Storm Hockey ended its third season at the USA Hockey Disabled Festival in Laurel, Maryland the first week in April. The Festival was a positive experience for all the Storm Athletes and their families. Games were played with the Bucks County Admirals, Montgomery Cheetahs and the Baltimore Saints Special Hockey teams, providing some great hockey games and new friendships for all the players.
Our Athletes met players from other disciplines participating in the Festival - Deaf/hard of hearing, standing amputee, sled hockey and a number of Special Hockey teams from around the country. As anticipated, pin trading was a huge event for the players with the added fun of enjoying the cake made, donated and personally delivered by Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes. Meals were shared and a wonderful weekend of camaraderie was had by all.
We played many games and participated in tournaments this season with our friends from other local and not so local Special Hockey teams in New Jersey, Long Island, Westchester County, NY and Albany.
Storm received a very special invitation to attend the Winter Classic from Jeremy Jacobs, the owner of the Boston Bruins and had a remarkable experience in Boston on New Years Day.
We also took part in a game at Harbor Yard and attended a Sound Tiger game, a very fun day for all the families.
We've experienced so many wonderful moments from our players. Growth of the players continues in so many ways and we are so very proud of them all, for stepping out of the box, trying new experiences and forming new friendships.
A very successful season indeed.
